This Diet Keto Doctor story is real, we find it funny 🙂
We are now on Keto since almost twelve months. The story is as:
I had my physical a bout a year ago and my numbers were not too good… bad cholesterol a bit over the limit. Thanks to Covid, much less exercise, more couch potatoes… you know the rest.
Fine, we started a diet… and we picked a vegetarian diet. We bought a book, and made it happen plenty of cereals, very little meat, eggs and other bad stuff, lots of veggies. All wonderful work at dieting.
Three months later, I followed up with my doctor, who ordered another blood panel. The results were horrifying! worse than the first one and now my blood glucose was so high that my doctor put me in the pre-diabetic class…
She recommended the help of a nutritionist, major pills if in 3 months the results didn’t change drastically, etc… We called the nutritionist for an appointment and we felt very welcomed.
What bothered me the most?
- $250 per week
- $175 per private session – twice a month – highly recommended
- Do not go for any new diet with no serious tracked records – diets like Keto
- The nutritionist explained her nutrition background and certifications… impressive, certainly to justify her high fees 🙂
The $1,350 not covered by insurance didn’t seem right, then Keto is not a new diet at all, we read a lot about it prior to start the vegetarian diet and Keto exists since 1920s for epilepsy treatment and 1970s for weight loss and other ailments.
Nutritionist… FIRED, and I called our doctor to tell her we will be doing Keto.
Our Doctor spelled out it wasn’t safe, many risks and all, and all.
Sorry, we decided to go on the diet Keto doctor!
We planned, got an app to track our carbs intake, and we started eating low-carb, high fat and stepping on the scale daily recording our weight on a spread sheet…
The results were interesting. The first week wasn’t fun… it’s called the Keto flu. After we noticed rapidly and change in our weight, one pound lost, then two, five, ten, three months into it, I lost seventeen pounds (17 lbs) with very pleasant side effects we will review in another post.
Time to do an update blood panel…
Starting the conversation like: “we are on Keto doctor…”
We got a call to review my numbers and BAM… glucose, back to normal, bad cholesterol under the limit by 20%, the good one way up, the ratio… extra good and I lost 17lbs!
Our doctor suddenly said “let me offer you coffee at the cafe” – weird, but hey free coffee is free coffee, right?
We quickly understood why she took us out of her office… it was to tell us that she and her hubby were on Keto for the last 2 months.
Yup, she is now a diet Keto Doctor.
I find the story hilarious because most of the medical corp tells us NOT to go to Keto, but many are on Keto… Why? Nah, that would be a conspiracy theory 🙂
